Worship explained

OUR AFFILIATION
The name “Lutheran” comes from the great 16th century reformer Martin Luther who brought the Bible
back to the people and the people back to the Bible.
Our Lutheran church family is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), a
federation of more than 1200 churches throughout the United States. We have neighboring sister
congregations in Temple, Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Round Rock and Austin. Together we help support
missions and missionaries sharing the message of Jesus in 26 different countries throughout the world.
You may learn more about the WELS at www.wels.net.
OUR WORSHIP
Our worship time begins at 10:00 AM each Sunday and lasts approximately an hour.
We know a “style” or “feel” of worship can be a significant part of connecting with a church home and
ministry. We consider our church worship area the house of the Lord. We share the same joy of worship
as King David when he wrote in Psalm 122. “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the
House of the Lord.’"
In our Abiding Savior worship setting we celebrate our rich Christian worship heritage and seek to
connect the worshiper to the Lord through some of the historic, traditional forms of worship such as
hymns, Scripture readings, statements of faith and responsive readings between pastor and worshipers.
We also incorporate contemporary Christian songs and a Biblical message that relates to our
contemporary living. Some call our worship setting reverent, relaxed and relational.
WE BELIEVE
The holy Bible is the true and inspired Word of God.
It is the only source of truth and spiritual life.
God tells us through his Word...
There is only one true God who exists in three persons ~ the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Father is God. The Son is God. The Holy Spirit is God. Yet they are not three gods, but one holy God.
God is holy, perfect in love and perfect in justice.
Perfectly just, he cannot ignore sin. Perfect in love he could not bear for his children to perish for
eternal life, so he sent his only Son to die on the cross to wipe away our sins and satisfy his justice!
We cannot be set right with God get to Heaven by our own efforts.
Because of his great love for us, God gives us saving faith as a gift through Baptism and through his Word.
Through faith he gives the blessings he won for us on the cross.
The forgiveness of all our wrongs, his presence and love in our lives,
and eternal life are gifts from God received by faith.
Then God nourishes and sustains our saving faith with the message of his Word.
Our lives have meaning because of God's love for us.
Because God loves us, we love others and strive to seek and carry out God's will in our lives.

what to expect (first time)
“Will I have to say something?” – No. We want you to feel at home. Church should be an enjoyable and uplifting experience so you can learn about your Savior in a comfortable and non-threatening way.
“I know my child is going to be noisy.” – Our congregation consists of infants and small children. It is not unusual to hear the cry of a baby, it is a joyful noise to the Lord!
“I’m afraid I’ll say or do something wrong.” – All of us at some time, have felt this way. Relax and be yourself, God loves you and so will we.
“I feel out of place.” – If you have a question, please ask someone for help. Don’t hesitate to say, “I’m new here. Can you help me?” Our members are ready to help!
